Grant Making

This year’s line-up of the National Youth Dance Company (NYDC), the country’s flagship organisation for young dancers, performs a new creation by the company’s Guest Artistic Director Damien Jalet. The work entitled Tarantiseismic receives its world premiere on Wednesday 19 April at Sadler’s Wells, ahead of a UK national tour in June and July. Tarantiseismic is a new commission that sees Jalet present a unique piece of theatre which addresses themes of melancholia, ritual, control and abandon. Jalet’s revered choreographic style combined with the young dancers’ energy and talent is set to produce a mesmerising experience that shifts the consciousness of the audience. © Tony Nandi 2017

Three Monkies makes grants largely to small to medium-sized charitable and non-profit organisations. Funds are also sometimes granted to projects based within larger organisations where the programme of which it is a part has a budget of less than £500,000.

In making decisions, the Trustees seek to understand an organisation’s key priorities and the likely impact of any project for which a grant is being made, with a particular focus on:

  • What funds are being sought from Three Monkies and what funds will be used for
  • Demonstrable link to the organisation’s priorities and to Three Monkies’ key areas of interest
  • Rationale for the project and the target beneficiaries
  • The specific plan for the project
  • The impacts one expects as a result of undertaking the project
  • The project time frame
  • Budget for the project and the funding already secured if appropriate
  • Information on the sustainability of the project and/or its legacy

The Trustees will also pay attention to a charities accounts as submitted to the Charity Commission.

**At present we are not open for new applications and are funding charities and projects which we have come to know well.  That may well change in the future when for instance we decide that we need to refresh our list of grant recipients.  At that point the website will be updated but we do not expect to do that for a few years (this is written in mid-2026)**
